Well, the nurse called me Tuesday afternoon with the numbers from my first blood draw to check my beta and progesterone numbers. Without further ado, here they are....
(The beta was taken at around 13 or 14 dpo, I think; this month I didn't chart or use an OPK, so I'm not sure exactly when I ovulated, but based on symptoms, I think it probably was somewhere around Nov. 9 or shortly thereafter. The beta was done on cycle day 28.)
PROGESTERONE: 23.5 (the nurse said that anything over 12 is good at this point)
I am really thankful for the decent progesterone number because--don't yell at me--I didn't use my progesterone supplements this month. My RE had said that the only reason for me to use them is because they can't hurt and might help. Since my progesterone levels generally have been quite good (except in my injectables cycle), my RE doesn't think that low progesterone is my problem, and therefore he told me that it would be okay if I didn't take the supplements, considering that REs are so divided as to whether taking them in a situation like mine is helpful. (My miscarriages are unexplained, except for the third one, which was due to a chromosomal abnormality in the embryo.) I have been taking a prenatal vitamin, extra folic acid, and a baby aspirin, though, so I didn't slack off completely this cycle.
So, for now, my numbers are in the normal range, but of course a single beta number doesn't really mean anything. We won't know how things are progressing until after the second beta next Monday. I'm glad that I have Thanksgiving with my family as an enjoyable distraction in the meantime, because the next five days seem like an eternity right now.
I probably won't be able to post again until Monday, so for now I'll just wish you all a happy Thanksgiving!
